When we are young, there are big, important, memorable things that happen. We think we’ll never forget them, but time has a way of forgetting. So, it is on my heart to write this now (50 years since I was in Vietnam).

As a child of sexual abuse, I saw life, the Army, and Vietnam differently. This story is not about winners or losers, politics, or about the war in so much as it is about my love affair with a time, a place, and a people. Vietnam is where I grew up; I turned 21 in Vietnam.

This book is about my Vietnam. These are my US Army experiences as a Vietnamese linguist for the Army Security Agency (1965-1969). I served in Vietnam in 1967-68 assigned to the 8th RRFS in Phú Bài and the 1st RR Company (AVN) in Cam Ranh.
