Adjusting to life's changes with hope… through poetry, haiku, and commentary

A Single Word

the temperature
dropped about
thirty degrees

Mardi Gras may
not care but I do
it is freezing

the wind is up
I can tell cause
that same branch

knocks on the
metal roof and
the house is so

quiet that is the
only sound I hear
well not the only

sound because I
can hear the whisper
of my heart’s claim

to say I miss her
falls short like
trying to define

God by a single
word or her sweet
touch
